From January 4th-6th the Planai Classic near Schladming (Styria) took place with very wintry conditions. 49 classic cars up to yoc. 1972, not less than 23 different brands with teams from Austria, Germany, Greece, Finland, Switzerland and the Netherlands were meeting the challenge.
At the end Alexander and Florian Deopito driving a Mercedes Benz 350 SLC succeeded with a lead of only 51 points. Rank 2 went to Florian Kunz and Sebastian Kackl with their Austin Mini Cooper S, rank 3 was achieved by Pius Weckerle and Otmar Schlager, driving a Porsche 911.
Our clubmembers Hannes und Brigitte Frech ended remarkably on rank 14 with their Volvo PV544 Sport, yoc. 1962.
The only two Jaguars landed middle field. Heiner Nemec with copilot Bernhard Ziegler on a Jaguar XK 140 SE OTS, yoc 1954 finished on 29th position. The second Jaguar – a MK II from 1962 driven by Heinz Hartung and Uli Barnewitz (Germany) achieved at their first start rank 30.
The next Planai Classic will take place from Jan. 3.-5. 2019!
